Construction
The Moai Allround 12.4 is an allrounder board with lush dimensions and a slightly modified silhouette. In contrast to the classic Allrounder, the side line is cut quite straight due to the elongated design, making the overall contour less rounded.
This adjustment of the shape significantly improves the running characteristics of the board, the straight line is much more stable…but unfortunately this is also somewhat at the expense of maneuverability
The proven 2+1 fin setup is therefore even more important. The 3 fins have a greater resistance in the water and thus improve the basic stability and maneuverability.
The thickness of the board is 15 cm (6″), which is in the solid average of the board class. The volume of the single air chamber is an impressive 380 liters, which, together with the high-quality construction, ensures high stiffness and very good buoyancy values.
As a result, the board is very resistant and provides a stable standing surface even under higher loads.
Soad
The maximum load capacity of the Moai Allround 12.4 is specified by the manufacturer as 190 kg. In my opinion, this is a bit too high despite the high-quality outer shell.
But even if you subtract a generous tolerance value, the board has enough buoyancy for 2 adults. 150 to a maximum of 170 kg I consider quite realistic!
Thus, nothing stands in the way of use by several people or a paddle board tour with a dog. The large deck pad and the possibility of mounting 2 kayak seats are also ideally suited for these purposes.

Due to the large space and very high tipping stability, the Moai Allround 12.4 is suitable for a very wide range of applications. Activities such as SUP yoga or SUP fitness are easily possible on this board.
But also the classic uses such as small to medium tours, in pairs or with a dog as well as the use as a swimming platform are conceivable.
There is even enough room for a picnic in the middle of the lake. Due to its width and high load capacity, it is also suitable as a fishing paddle board.
When fishing from the board, a solid basic stability and a high load capacity are elementary.
When two of you are out on the Moai Allround 12.4, you can reach decent speeds with a well-tuned paddle use… that’s where you’ll quickly see if you’re a good team.
The fairly straight rails (sides) significantly optimize the tracking. The board also offers the possibility to take inexperienced paddlers as passengers at first and thus to teach them the right technique directly.

The construction of the Moai Allround 12.4 is generally referred to as “double-layer dropstitch.” The core of the board is made of a multitude of interwoven polyester threads (“dropstitch”).
However, a special, innovative process (“MSL – Thermo-Fusion”) is used in the production of the outer shell:
In this technique, 2 thinner layers of PVC are welded together under high pressure and heat. This production is very environmentally friendly, reduces the board weight by up to 20% and still ensures a very high stiffness.
The weight of the Moai Allround 12.4 is a low 11 kg due to the manufacturing process described. This value is below average considering the size and the high-quality material construction of the board and makes handling much easier.
Workmanship
The Moai Allround 12.4 is overall very well manufactured. However, a small transport-related pressure mark on the deckpad and a small paint stain on the fin box were to be forgiven.
Since we have already tested many other models from the manufacturer, however, we can say in this regard that these purely optical flaws are an absolute exception.
The innovative “MSL – Thermo Fusion Process” is really very sophisticated and has clear advantages over conventional technology.
The fusion of the material layers creates an almost inseparable bond…defects due to detachment of the different layers are practically impossible.
This is an important factor, especially with regard to durability. I am curious whether the “Thermo-Fusion process” may even completely prevail in the long run!
Design
Moai manages to strike a balance between the popular “surf style” and a straightforward, sporty design in the design of its paddle boards. The patterns and ornaments in the style of “Maori tribals” are on the Allround 12.4 on the nose as well as the underside and are rather discreet.
The white base color of the board is complemented on the top by the large and 3-color split deck pad in different shades of turquoise and orange. The rails are solid white and are decorated by the company logo, which you will also find again in the nose area and on the tread.

- Luggage net: In the rear area is the elastic deck net, which is attached to 4 D-rings and is adjustable and removable via a mechanism. Here you can safely stow equipment or provisions (best in a dry bag).

- Moai Allround 12.4 trolley board bag: The package includes a newly designed black and turquoise backpack trolley with matching design elements. In the large main compartment with all-round zipper is enough space for the rolled up board and the large parts of the equipment. In addition, the backpack has two handles (top and side), padded and adjustable straps, a waist strap and several straps (inside and outside) to secure the contents. If the luggage is too heavy for you, you can simply pull the backpack behind you as a trolley thanks to the two integrated wheels. This model belongs to the high-quality specimens and is a welcome relief when transporting the set.
- 2 x Moai Allround 12.4 fiberglass paddles: The two paddles are continuously adjustable from 175 to 215 cm. The shaft of these models is made of glass fiber (fiberglass) and the petrol-colored paddle blade with a width of 19.5 cm is made of sturdy plastic. Here you will also find the characteristic “tribal print”, which you already know from the board and the trolley backpack. With about 896 g it is lighter than a standard model with aluminum shaft!
- Moai Allround 12.4 switchable double action air pump with pressure gauge (manometer): The set includes a switchable double action air pump with pressure gauge (manometer) from Bravo. With this you can pump air into the board both when pulling up and when pushing down. When the back pressure increases towards the end, you can switch this pump to single action mode and save your strength by simply twisting the small plug out of the housing.
