With the MOAI Allround 11′, the Dutch SUP manufacturer makes an attempt to expand its range with a large allround board with very good running characteristics.
The board has some features in its shape that are more reminiscent of a short touring board. In manufacturing, MOAI relies on the innovative “Thermo-Fusion process” not only for this board.
How it looks with the quality of the offered complete set and whether the board can prove its raison d’être in practice, I have tested with this review for you.
Look at our video review of the MOAI Allround 11′:

Short on Time? Here’s the Most Important:
Looking at the manufacturer’s range of products (“board range”), one might ask: “Why another allrounder board”?…after all, MOAI already offers numerous specimens of various sizes in this segment.
However, upon closer inspection of the MOAI Allround 11.0, it quickly becomes clear that the manufacturer is establishing a link to the touring boards with this board.
Measuring 11′ x 30″ x 6″ (335 x 76 x 15 cm), the MOAI Allround 11′ is quite different from the dimensions of most allrounders. Its silhouette with rounded, yet rather narrow tip (nose) and straight cut tail looks like a combination between allrounder and touring shape. This compromise promises improved gliding properties.
Due to the extended length as well as the thickness of 6″ (15 cm) and the stable, 2-layer construction (“Double-Layer”), the board achieves good values in terms of stiffness and buoyancy.
The board is equipped with 3 fins in the so-called 2+1 setup, whereby the center fin is removable via the US box system. This feature is again classic for an allrounder.
The MOAI Allround 11′ comes with complete accessory package, which consists of the following components:
Backpack trolley, infinitely adjustable fiberglass paddle, switchable double action air pump, removable center fin (US box system), coiled leash (spiral safety line), repair kit including valve wrench.

Construction
The MOAI Allround 11′ deviates significantly from the average dimensions of most allrounders. The length is extended and the width turns out slightly narrower.
The contour (shape) also goes more in the direction of a touring board, as the tip does not turn out quite as wide and rounded as in classic representatives of the type.
Through this adaptation, it achieves significantly improved gliding properties, but is not quite as tilt-resistant as wider models.
The board has a total of 3 fins (2+1), the two small side fins are fixed and the large center fin is removable via the US box system. This setup is characteristic for an allrounder board and leads to a good basic stability and maneuverability.
The MOAI Allround 11′ has a thickness of 6″ or 15 cm and has a single air chamber with 280 liters of volume.
These values are particularly important in terms of load capacity and strength and are in the upper range. For heavier paddlers, larger allrounders are optimal.

Load Capacity
MOAI states the maximum carrying capacity of the Allrounder 11′ at 330 lbs. In my opinion, this is too much despite the solid material construction and rather refers to the absolute maximum limit of buoyancy.
If you value good performance, then I see the realistic range of load capacity at about 240 lbs (110 kg).
These are already very good values for an allrounder board, if you are heavier, then you can take a closer look at the MOAI Allround 12.4. This board is a good deal larger and has a very high maximum load.
Areas of Application and Driving Characteristics
The MOAI Allround 11′ has its strength clearly in the area of nimble running performance due to its dimensions deviating from the standard and the modified silhouette.
It is narrower than most allrounder boards and the nose runs a bit more pointed. Thus, it offers less resistance to the water and you can reach higher speeds.
Especially on medium and long tours this advantage is clear. However, the 2+1 fin setup still brings out the popular versatility of the allrounders. This feature leads to improved tipping stability and compensates well for the narrower width, furthermore, maneuverability improves.
By using the kickpad, you can turn the board in tight spaces by skillfully shifting your weight to this elevation in the back of the footprint.
Overall, the MOAI Allround 11.0 is a successful middle ground between allrounder and touring board. Logically, with slight sacrifices in both directions.
Whether the performance profile of the board fits your requirements depends on what you expect. For ambitious beginners, the compromise between stability and glide makes a lot of sense.
If you are exclusively riding short distances with many changes of direction, it is less recommended…for this purpose shorter and wider allrounders are better suited.
Material and Weight
The construction of the MOAI Allrounder 11′ is called “double-layer dropstitch”. The core of the board is made of a multitude of interwoven polyester threads (“dropstitch”). A special, innovative process (“Thermo-Fusion”) is used in the manufacture of the outer shell:
In this technique, 2 thinner layers of PVC are fused together under high pressure and heat. This manufacturing reduces the board weight by up to 20% and still ensures a very high stiffness!
The weight of the MOAI Allrounder is therefore a light 20 lbs. This value is really low considering the size and the high-quality material construction of the board. Transport and handling are no problem, and a trolley backpack is also included, which makes things even easier.
Workmanship
The material quality and the construction of the board are consistently high. The MOAI Allround 11.0 can keep up with more expensive models in this respect. Overall, the price is in the mid-class and therefore I expect a good level of workmanship.
The “Thermo-Fusion process” is innovative and primarily offers the advantage of weight reduction. In addition, the outer casing is practically like a single cast and problems due to dissolving adhesive layers are much rarer!

Design
MOAI SUP creates a compromise between “surf style” and straightness in the design of its paddle boards. On the top, the look is characterized by the large 3-color footprint in different shades of turquoise and orange, as well as the front design element in “Maori tribal style”…this pattern also characterizes the design of the board’s running surface.
The side surfaces (rails) are plain white and are decorated by the company logo, which you will also find on the top and bottom again. The design sets clear accents without appearing overloaded.
Other Features
The MOAI Allround 11′ has numerous other features:
- Deckpad: The optically 3-divided standing surface is made of soft and anti-slip EVA.
- free D-ring: At the tail, directly behind the valve, there is a D-ring for hanging the leash (safety line).
- central carrying strap: Directly on the center of gravity of the board is the carrying strap covered with neoprene. Here is also the so-called “sweet spot” and shows you the most stable standing position.
- 2+1 fin setup with removable center fin: The 2 smaller side fins are firmly glued and the large center fin is removable via the US box system.
- Luggage Net: In the front area of the top is the elastic and adjustable deck net, which is attached to 4 additional D-rings. Here you will find enough space for equipment and provisions, which you can best protect from water in a dry bag.
- Kickpad: This elevation in the rear area of the deckpad is elementary important for fast changes of direction and turning maneuvers. When you shift your weight to this point, the tip lifts out of the water and you can easily turn the board.
Accessories
MOAI paddle boarding boards generally come with a complete accessory package:
- MOAI Allround 11′ Trolley Backpack: The high-quality and thoughtful trolley backpack in black and petrol has the same design elements as the board, is equipped with two carrying handles and padded as well as adjustable carrying straps and a waist strap. There are also several straps inside and outside to secure the contents. In the large rear compartment with all-round zipper you can store the board including accessories. The backpack trolley is a great relief in terms of transport and usually rather included with more expensive premium boards.
- MOAI Allround 11′ fiberglass paddle: The shaft of this 3-piece model is made of fiberglass (fiberglass) and the turquoise paddle blade (width 7.6 inches) is made of sturdy plastic. Here, too, you will find the characteristic “tribal print” that you already know from the board and the trolley backpack. The paddle is continuously adjustable from 5.7 to 7 ft. With 1.97 lbs a pretty light model for more upscale demands!
- MOAI Allround 11′ switchable double action air pump with pressure gauge: Double action pumps are now the standard in most complete paddle board sets for good reason. In double-action mode, you can pump air into the board both when pulling up and when pushing down. Initially, you’ll manage most of the volume in a short time in this mode. At some point, however, the counterpressure becomes higher and higher, so I recommend that you switch the pump to single action mode by unscrewing a plug in the housing. This reduces the necessary effort, because you only pump air into the board when pushing down the handle. You can easily read the achieved pressure values from a certain threshold value on the display (manometer). In addition, you can also pump air out of the board (“deflate”) by mounting the hose on the second opening of the handle.
- Removable MOAI Allround 11′ center fin: The set also includes a removable center fin in dolphin shape. To install it, you must first place the threaded plate in the rail, to which the inserted fin is then screwed in place with the help of a small screw. In contrast to the plug-in system (slide-in system), this system requires a little more routine and time. A big advantage, however, is that there are plenty of spare parts and fin models for the US box system to retrofit. This system is the tried and true classic and has been used on surfboards for a long time.
- MOAI Allround 11′ Coiled-Leash: This spiral-shaped safety leash connects your ankle to the board via a sturdy Velcro sleeve. If you fall in the water, it stretches to full length (10′ / approx. 305 cm) and keeps your board close to you.
- MOAI Allround 11′ Repair Kit: This small set consists of color matching PVC patches, a small tube of glue and a valve wrench. With it you can repair small damages to the board itself. With the key you can check the valve for tight fit and replace it in case of a defect.
