Five FreeSpirit boards still have live product pages, but only two of them are in the paddle board collection you can actually browse.

The other three are still on the server and off the shelf, which is a strange place for a board to be.

Below is what is genuinely buyable, and four boards at the same money that nobody can quietly remove from a listing page.

Why this page exists: FreeSpirit boards are sold through Go Outdoors and nowhere else, and the range thins out between seasons. If the model you read about is gone, the boards below are the closest equivalents in the same price band. More options in our UK paddle board ranking.

What FreeSpirit sells today

The FreeSpirit paddle board collection at Go Outdoors currently lists two boards. Three further models still have working product pages but have dropped out of the collection, which usually means the size is finished rather than temporarily out of stock.

FreeSpirit Nemesis 10.6ft: 320 x 79 x 12 cm, rated to 110 kg, inflated to 15 PSI. In the live collection, the flagship of the current range.

FreeSpirit Dagon 10ft convertible: 305 x 84 x 12 cm, rated to 120 kg, and convertible between paddle board and kayak use. Also in the live collection, and the wider and higher rated of the two.

FreeSpirit Nemesis 12.6ft: product page live, not in the collection.

FreeSpirit Dagon 9ft: product page live, not in the collection.

FreeSpirit Dagon 10ft: product page live, not in the collection.

That is the pattern worth understanding before you buy: a FreeSpirit board is a retailer line, so the version you find in a review from last summer is not necessarily the version anyone will sell you today. The two in the collection are real. The other three are a URL.

Better alternatives to a FreeSpirit paddle board

All four are in the FreeSpirit price band, all four are on Amazon UK rather than behind one retailer, and the first is the closest match to the Nemesis 10.6ft.

Model

Key spec

Best for

Availability

FreeSpirit Nemesis 10.6ftthe current flagship

320 x 79 x 12 cm, 110 kg

A first allround board

Go Outdoors only

PORTAL 10 ft 6 Paddle Board

10 ft 6, 300 lb, 17.8 lb board

A first allround board

In stock on Amazon

AKSPORT 11 ft Paddle Board

11 ft x 34 in, 200 kg

A passenger, a child or a dog

In stock on Amazon

Aqua Marina Pure Air 10 ft 6

320 cm, allround

A known brand at supermarket money

In stock on Amazon

Bluefin Cruise 10 ft 8

10 ft 8 x 6 in, ESL laminate

Years of use rather than one season

In stock on Amazon

1. FreeSpirit currently runs two families, Nemesis and Dagon, and the collection has visibly shrunk.

Five product pages, two live listings: the Nemesis 12.6ft, the Dagon 9ft and the Dagon 10ft all still resolve, but none of them appears in the collection.

Two shapes, two jobs: the Nemesis is the narrower touring leaning board at 79 cm, the Dagon is the wide convertible at 84 cm with a kayak seat option.

The long one went first: the 12.6ft Nemesis was the top of the range and is the model no longer in the collection, which is the usual fate of the size that sells slowest.

Pro & Con

Pros

A complete board from a high street retailer

15 PSI is a proper working pressure, not a token number

Ten foot six is the size that suits most first time paddlers

Physical stores for returns and questions

Two distinct shapes in the range rather than one board in colours

Cons

110 kg capacity is low, a single adult board only

12 cm thickness rather than the stiffer 15 cm build

Seventy nine centimetres is narrow for a beginner

Sold by one retailer, so no price comparison

Three of the five models have already left the collection

Built & Material

The Nemesis is a 12 cm thick inflatable running at 15 PSI. Twelve centimetres is the thinner of the two common builds, and it is the number that explains most of how this board feels.

A thinner board flexes more under load, which is why the 110 kg rating is sensible rather than stingy. At 15 PSI properly inflated it will be stiff enough for a paddler of average build on flat water. Under a heavier rider it will start to bend in the middle.

Go Outdoors does not publish the laminate detail, so whether this is a single or double layer drop stitch build is not stated. At this price, single layer is the safe assumption.

Weight Limit

One hundred and ten kilograms is the rated maximum, and that is the tightest number on this page.

Comfortable paddler weight: up to about 85 kg

Paddler with a bag and a dry suit: up to roughly 95 kg all in

A passenger of any kind: not on this board

The Dagon in the same range rates 120 kg and is 5 cm wider, so within FreeSpirit itself that is the board for anyone near the limit. Outside it, the AKSPORT above rates 200 kg for similar money.

Intended Use & Riding Characteristics

Three hundred and twenty centimetres by seventy nine is a narrow allround board. It glides better than a 84 cm beginner raft and it is less forgiving in the first hour.

For a paddler who has been on a board before, that trade is worth taking: the Nemesis holds a line across a lake in a way a wide board does not. For somebody genuinely new to it, the extra width of the Dagon is the easier start.

At 15 PSI the board rides high and dry. Under inflated it will feel like a lilo, and with a hand pump the temptation to stop at 12 PSI is real, which is where most complaints about boards in this class come from.

Design

FreeSpirit boards are styled to look like the branded boards on the same shop floor rather than to undercut them visually, and the Nemesis is the plainer of the two families.

The layout is standard: deck pad through the standing area, central carry handle, bungee storage forward and a leash point at the tail.

Features

15 PSI working pressure, a proper number for a 12 cm board

320 cm length, the size most first boards are

79 cm width, narrow enough to actually move

High street retail backing, with a returns counter

A sister model, the Dagon, if you need width and a kayak seat instead

Accessory

FreeSpirit sells the Nemesis as a package, and the contents are the standard set for this price rather than anything unusual.

Adjustable paddle

Hand pump

Carry bag

Leash

Removable fin

As with every board in this class the pump is the weak link. Getting to a genuine 15 PSI by hand is hard work, and an electric pump is what turns a board like this from an occasional outing into a weekly one.

FAQ

Who makes FreeSpirit paddle boards?

FreeSpirit is the house brand of Go Outdoors. The boards are sold through Go Outdoors and not through other retailers, and Go Outdoors does not name the manufacturer behind them.

Which FreeSpirit paddle boards can you still buy?

The live collection holds two, the Nemesis 10.6ft and the Dagon 10ft convertible. Three further models, the Nemesis 12.6ft, the Dagon 9ft and the Dagon 10ft, still have live product pages but no longer appear in the collection.

Is the FreeSpirit Nemesis good for a heavier paddler?

No. It is rated to 110 kg and is 12 cm thick, which is the thinner of the two common builds, so it will flex noticeably under a heavier rider. The Dagon in the same range rates 120 kg and is wider, and the alternatives above go to 200 kg for similar money.

Where can I buy a FreeSpirit board if it is out of stock?

Nowhere else, because it is a Go Outdoors exclusive. That is the reason this page lists four boards on Amazon UK in the same price band: they are the practical route once a FreeSpirit model leaves the collection.

Conclusion

The Nemesis 10.6ft is a fair board at a fair price. Three hundred and twenty centimetres, 15 PSI, and a physical shop behind it. Nothing about it is wrong for a first summer.

The catch is the 110 kg rating combined with 12 cm of thickness, which makes it a single adult board and no more, and the fact that three of the five FreeSpirit models have already quietly left the collection. If you want the same shape without that risk, the PORTAL covers it. If you want capacity, the AKSPORT does. If you want to buy once, the Bluefin is the one.

FreeSpirit is the house brand of Go Outdoors, which means the range lives or dies with what one retailer decides …

Weiterlesen…

[37
101
post-20958","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-paddle-boards","tag-review","generate-columns","tablet-grid-50","mobile-grid-100","grid-parent","grid-33","resize-featured-image
["GET
